Restraints
Scan&Solve for Grasshopper can constrain selected faces or edges in a model. Faces and edges can be restrained in all three coordinate directions, making it completely rigid, or a combination thereof.
Creating Restraints
To create a restraint, drag the Restraint Block out of the Scan&Solve Plugin tab and into the Grasshopper solver.
Once the Restraint Block is dragged out,Go to Rhino to extract the faces which will be restrained. To extract the surfaces, goto [Solid] in the Rhino toobar and select [Extract Surface]. Once the Extract Surface operation has been selected choose the faces to restraint and extract those surfaces.
Once surfaces have been extracted, right click on the geometry input labeled “G”. If there are multiple restraint faces choose the [Set Multiple Geometries] option, otherwise choose the [Set one Geometry] option. After clicking on one of the two options, choose the extracted sufraces on Rhino.
Finally, In the Restraint Block inputs, choose which directions(i.e. X,Y,Z) the selected faces should be restrained.
