Introduction

The scriptable version of Scan&Solve™ for Rhino allows users to automate processes that otherwise require user interaction. In the scriptable version most of the functionality of the original Scan&Solve™ plug-in is exposed for calls from RhinoScript, including simulation setup, simulation computation, and solution visualization and querying.

This documentation assumes the reader is already familiar with scripting in Rhinoscript and is interested in extending the utility of Scan&Solve™ for Rhino. For information on Rhinoscript and automating Rhino processes, please refer to the separate RhinoScript 101 Primer available at this link.

In this documentation we make a distinction between the original plug-in and the scriptable version as follows: SnS refers to the original plug-in with its dialog-based user interface, SnSScript refers to the scriptable plug-in.

Caution

SnSScript is a work in progress so save your work early, save your work often. Also avoid using both SnS and SnSScript simultaneously on the same solid as both plug-ins operate on the same data and can interact in strange, mysterious, and undesirable ways.

Installation

Installation is simply a matter of running the installer downloaded from the Intact Solutions website. There are two flavors of SnSScript, the 32-bit version for Rhino 4 and Rhino 5 (32-bit) and the 64-bit version for Rhino 5 (64-bit). The installer will inform Rhino to load the SnSScript plug-in the next time Rhino is started.
